Returning Honey to Liquid Form
Did you know that honey does not go bad? In fact, it can last forever. But due to the high glucemic content, the honey may crystalize after time. In fact, if you use raw honey, you are more that likely to have this happen. But there is an easy way to get the honey back to the liquid you know and love.
As long as you keep the temperature below 120 degrees you will not kill off all the “good stuff” that is in your honey and allows it to be considered “raw”. If heated to a higher temperature it pasturizes the honey and then kills off all the raw properties within the honey.
Honey in Glass Jars:
- Place the jar in a pot of water up to the neck of the jar with the lid off.
- Slowly heat the water on the stove at medium low heat
- Stir occasionally until the honey dissolves back into a liquid state
Honey in Plastic Containers:
- Place in a bowl of very hot water and stir occasionally until it dissolves.
- If the water cools off, it can be switched out for new warm water until the de-crystallization is complete.
